Day 9 Santa Rosa to Albuquerque, via Santa Fe

Probably the most senic drive of the trip so far. A big circle through New Mexico, on sections of Route 66, including stretches of the Santa Fe Trail and the El Camino Real. Santa Fe was a revelation (as Bryan promised), the city centre is quite funky. Attempted to video the drive through the town. The streets are quite narrow so it was hard to take stills. Got some I will post later. The day ended at 10,300 feet up a mountain above Albuquerque, mind you the city is at about 6,000 feet altitude anyway. Went up in a cable car, they claim it is the longest in the whole wide world, probably is, quite spectacular ride that. Dined at the Route 66 Diner, that is a cool place. Even has a juke box that works, takes a quarter, so we played a few songs.

magnificent country to drive through
there are quite a few high peaks between the valleys we meandered through
rain threatened in the afternoon, got a few drops
