On the way we went into the Meramec Caverns, near Stanton. Believe it or not this photo is actually the roof reflected in the pool of water
These Caverns have been home to Jesse James, soldiers of the Civil War, bandits and a honeymoon couple. As you go in the first large cave has a mirror ball strung up, apparently in the old days they used to hold dances in there
Last year the cavern was totaly flooded from heavy rains, they lost their infrastructure and some of the formations
Still some fantastic forms
Heard it was the coolest cavern visited to date!!
ReplyDeleteAthene, It was 60 degrees in the caves, and 97 outside, but yes your boys all said it was the best they have seen, not even Texas could match that, which is saying something.
