Day 5 - some images

One of the great stories from Route 66 history is the great foot race, I mean LA to New York can you believe. Promoted by a somewhat shady character or so it is rumoured ( what else, and what has changed). Anyway a rank outsider Andrew Hartley won it, a 21 year old from Foyil in Oklahoma. When we glided through Foyil today I think most streets are named in his honour, and the park. Check it out its a great story, if not also for all the drama that surrounded the race, its organisers and the way the race unfolded. Hmm, should make a movie, maybe they have?

Lunch at Cotton Eyed Joe's, the evidence is there - Jay ordered the Okra, never heard of it, but it tastes ok

Interesting Architecture for a conservative mid west city

Had to throw this in.

  1. Dad I am sure you have had okra (also known as ladyfingers in Asian cooking). Very good for you and a staple of the soul food
