There was a whole section of the museum devoted to this regions history. A bonus was this one that shows the development of the camera
This picture is typical of how photos were taken in the 19th century, only by professionals, generally in a studio, because the cameras were too large to carry around
Anyway Mr Eastman sorted that out when he developed the first Kodak camera that used negative film, rather than glass, and it was this ability to reduce the size to a point where it could be carried around that set in motion the camera's modern development.
These were the early cameras used by journalists, and probably brought images of war into the media for the first time. Now we have the camera phone, you tube, facebook, blah blah, its awful really, that tide of stuff being vomited all over the media. I am thinking seriously of going back to my film camera
