Town of Dwight

Drive in cafe, sadly no longer open and up for sale, in good shape though
Armando turns into a Texaco pump attendant, yes folks in the good ole days people in uniforms filled your
car with gas, checked the oil and water, even cleaned your windscreen.
The State of Illinois has done a great job signposting the route and pointing to places of interest and heritage.

Many of these beautifully restored and manned historical sites are run by volunteers, are adopted by their towns and as you can see in the signage, recognised by the Hampton Hotels "save a landmark programme". The folks here are typical of the growing dedication of the towns and their people. really good to stop and talk to them. Put our pins on their big world map (two other pins from Perth) and signed the guest book, bought a postcard, $1 only and it goes to the place not the people who man it.
